Dear internet,
do you remember that time when you clicked play on a video on youtube, then paused it and let the whole video load, and how it was super awesome when you had slow internet that didn’t allow you to watch the video while it was still loading?
So sometimes over this year (or the last one, don’t remember) youtube changed their cloud service, or their player, or who knows what exactly. Anyway, since these changes were (silently) made, a lot of users experience that letting videos fully load is now no longer possible.
Instead, the video will load ahead for a bit, then stop there, and will only continue buffering once you press play again.It makes watching videos for people like me who sit behind a bad, unstable and slow connection incredibly painful.
I have to pause constantly, and even if it did load this shred ahead, often when I press replay the loaded part either mysteriously vanishes, or youtube changes the quality by itself and thus needs to rebuffer that part once more – yeah thanks, asshole!
How to fix this issue:
Go to http://www.youtubeunblocker.org/ and enter the URL of the video you want to watch and click “Go”And then just press play and pause and let the video load. For some reason a different player has fixed what youtube is unable (or unwilling) to correct.
Enjoy your videos fully loaded as they were inteded to be!
Yours sincerely,
Lindblut
EDIT : I found that occasionally the flowplayer will stop loading a video if there is trouble with your connection, which results you into running an endless loading screen mid-video.
So I looked around a bit more and here is what I found;
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/smartvideo-for-youtube-mytube/developersIt’s an add-on for firefox called SmartVideo, where you can not only select to let the video fully buffer while being paused, you may also choose your default quality, default player size, if the video should be looped and most importantly of all, you can enable youtube’s annoying auto-quality change.
I heard there is also an add-on for chrome, but since I’m a devoted firefox user I don’t care about that and you’ll have to look for it yourself.
Nevermind, suit yourselves:
