I kind of see Link as a reincarnation of the same person.  Sometimes they have to save the world, others they live an average life, but I keep hoping that one day they’ll make a story where Link is a girl.  I know a lot of people want to see Zelda with her own game, but I never saw any reason that Link couldn’t be a girl or boy.  It was their heart that made them a hero after all.
