Hasui KAWASE (1883-1957)

 Prints by the inimitable and highly influential Hasui Kawase whose work is some of the most brilliant examples of the art of handmade, woodblock prints.

The movement SHIN HANGA extends the tradition of 20th century Japanese prints.
 Hasui KAWASE (1883-1957), his best representative is a landscape specialist.
 He spent his life traveling Japan with his hand sketchbook to capture on the grounds the landmarks of his country.  It captures the way an atmosphere, especially now that will sublimate a landscape: the light of an autumn day, the sweetness of a summer twilight … It is also the master of the snowy landscape.
 In 1956, the Japanese government awarded him the title of National Living Treasure.
