To the anon asking about why pearl was wesring a welding mask i think its because they want to be a good example to steven! There is an episode where garnet wore oven mitts, while holding a hot cookie sheet wouldnt hurt her.
ah, well, they were actually referring to Peridot, not Pearl. Though I suppose it would be more correct to say she was wearing welding goggles, since I don’t think she ever wears the welding mask (Pearl does though), instead wearing these goggles with a metal screen
But anyway, yea, if it doesn’t actually protect her then Steven may’ve asked her to wear it or the other Gems for Steven’s sake
To add a little more to this:
It’s kinda of been established that Gems have about the same or similar eyesight to humans, since they needed to project light under dark conditions. (flash light… gem light?!?!)
So even if light from the arc welding doesn’t damage their eyes, they wouldn’t be able to see what the same hell they were doing without dampening the light.
I welded once for class, and even with goggles it’s still pretty dang bright.
So you know, practical reasons of being able to see what they’re working on.
