it’s funny because basically every movie recently that has white washed or used black/brown/red/yellow face as fucking done awful rating and/or money wise i.e gods of egypt, nina, ATLA, exodus, noah, lone ranger, Pan. Like you are gonna get “sjws mad” but your movie is going to fucking tank so i hope those giggles were worth it when you have a 20% on rotten tomatoes and a box office grand total of $4.43
Basically when I see them whitewash characters, all I see is lazy writing. Because to them, the easiest solution was to remove the race factor by casting the “default white.” Which tells me that, if they were too lazy to find a creative solution to writing a respectful Asian character, they were probably too lazy to write anything else in their movie as well.
Like, what else could be enjoyable about this movie if they can’t even get the simple things right?
