On the word ‘deviate’ in the context of the LGBT community

Many people have chosen to define the LGBT community on how its members deviate from the norm, largely to include asexuals and aromantics (even the cis hetero ones). Although not a new definition, the reason was new. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. Let me explain why this is a bad move, as succinctly as I can.
