barry bluejeans is absolutely the kind of person who has a “well i would if you were interested” relationship with like.. most of his friends. like maybe he isn’t the smoothest but he’s not bad at making friends and he tends to see the best in people so sometimes that translates to him being very lowkey into a lot of people

which is fine and good and only slightly awkward when lup is teasing him after they get together about not being able to tell her and taako apart when they first met and she says “good thing you didn’t figure out you liked me until later!”

“no,” barry says absently, “i always knew i liked you.”

“so did you like taako too?” she asks. she’s only teasing him but like? kind of? before he could tell them apart they were still both hot and intimidating. he doesn’t answer for long enough that lup laughs. “oh my god, you did!” she says. she clearly thinks this is hysterical. barry loves her so much. lup drapes herself over the side of the bed. “was there anyone else you liked?”

“oh, i don’t know,” barry says. “i guess magnus, for about two seconds.”

lup laughs so hard she can’t breathe for a minute (“magnus! what drew you to him, the fact that he tried to bench press three of us on the first day?”) and then tries to get barry to play some video game called girls club. barry politely declines
